Congratulations, Denisha!

Denisha first came to The Learning Center last July and quickly impressed the staff and teachers. Denisha was pregnant at the time but she didn't let that become her excuse for putting off her educational goals. Denisha gave birth to precious little boy and she brought her new baby to school every time the doors were open. Denisha attended her classes and continued learning all while holding and feeding her little one. Was Denisha tired from being up all night with a newborn? Yes. Was Denisha overwhelmed with parenting multiple children and caring for a newborn? Yes. Was Denisha determined to obtain her GED and make for a better life for herself and her children? Yes. Congratulations to this strong mother for passing her last test and receiving her diploma. Denisha is looking forward to going to college and studying Early Childhood Education. Pray for her as she continues on in her education. Congratulations, Denisha. We are so proud of you.

Congratulations, Assiatou!

Assiatou is our newest GED graduate! She recently came to The Learning Center with Science already passed and just needed a quick refresher in the other subject areas. Her instructors were able to give her the confidence she needed to pass the other 3 sections. Assiatou took all 3 tests on Tuesday and officially earned her GED. Assiatou has already started a medical assistant program and hopes to one day become a nurse. We have no doubt that Assiatou will be able to accomplish her dreams. Congratulations, Assiatou. We are proud of you!

Happy 7th Birthday!

We are giving God thanks as today marks The Learning Center's 7th year of ministry. 7 years of hope and new beginnings. We celebrated on Monday with a catered lunch for our students and volunteers. We are overcome with joy for each student and volunteer who has had a part in making The Learning Center a special place.

The Learning Center closed for holiday break until January 3rd

The Learning Center is closed from December 14th-January 3rd. Our Winter semester starts on January 16th and classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am-2:00pm. If you are interested in attending classes with us we will hold a required assessment for new students on Thursday, January 4th at either 9:00am or 10:00am. Please fill out the the “Get In Touch” form located on the home page and someone will be in touch with you.

Six sections of the GED passed

Our fall semester ended in mid November, however, we still have students coming to The Learning Center so they can keep moving forward with their studies. Over the past 5 weeks we have had 6 students pass sections of the GED. We celebrate their success and hard work today! Congratulations goes to Anna, Desmond, Jhonny, Maria, Pamela, and Steven!

The Best Way to End the Semester!

The best way to end our semester is with a new graduate. Shama passed her final exam and received her diploma yesterday! Shama said she thanks the wonderful instructors who helped her understand the material as the face to face classroom instruction made all the difference with her. Congratulations, Shama!!

End of the Semester Assessments

This is the last week of our fall semester. Students are taking an assessment today to see how they have progressed over the last 12 weeks. Many students arrive nervous about taking an assessment and leave with improved self-esteem and thankfulness over their improvement. Improved scores means one step closer to passing the GED test. It is an exciting day at The Learning Center! We look forward to coming back on January 16th for the spring semester.

Congratulations to Keshontis!

You may remember a post a few weeks ago about how Keshontis only had 1 more section to pass. Well, she conquered her math exam and received her GED today! She is looking forward to becoming a traveling CNA. We have no doubt she will make a fantastic nurse. Congratulations, Keshontis!
