End of Spring 2019 Semester
And just like that, our 2019 Spring Semester has come to an end. In the past eleven weeks, we have had a cumulative effort of eight sections of the GED passed and three students have earned their GEDs! We don’t think the progress will end here, though! We have a mini-term beginning in April and will allow students to continue working towards passing sections of the GED between now and our Graduation ceremony on Monday, May 20. Mark your calendars to join us that night as we celebrate the work God has done in the lives of these hard-working students!
Student Success this Semester
Meet three of our most recent graduates. Tavares, Quontarius, and Harrinecia. We are so proud of our students and love bragging about their accomplishments. Harrinecia is now in cosmetology school so she can own her own salon by, Lord willing, this time next year; Tavares is planning to enroll in community college as soon as the next semester begins; and Quontarius is hoping to take his small business to the next level. We cannot say enough about what the Lord is doing through them and how proud we are of these graduates!
New Graduate!
We have another reason to celebrate! One of our students, Tavares, passed the Math section of the GED last month. As a result, he has now earned his GED and his time here is complete! We will miss having Tavares here every day but we are so proud of his accomplishments and look forward to seeing the work he will do in the future!
Student Success in February 2019!
We are so proud of the hard work our students are putting in at The Learning Center this semester! In February alone, students passed five sections of the GED! This is not an easy accomplishment, despite how easy our students are making it look. We are looking forward to seeing what all our students will accomplish this month as well!

Last month of 2019 Spring Semester!
We only have one month of classes left for this semester at The Learning Center. We are so encouraged by the dedication and hard work our students are already putting in towards their goal of getting the GED. We had two students pass sections of the GED in January __ who passed sections in February and have now earned their GED!
Volunteer Testimony
Based upon everything that I had read and heard about the Learning Center, I was anxious to see what it was all about. After I retired in late 2017 I finally had the opportunity to go and visit. Being an engineer, I always enjoyed math and I thought that would be a great place to help and share my time. After my initial visit with the staff at the Learning Center and observing one of the instructors teaching a class, I was hooked. All of the students there are so eager to learn and most of them are somewhat afraid of math. I spend a fair amount of time encouraging while I am teaching and it really seems to make a difference. Letting someone know that you are proud of them can make all the difference in the world. I let all of my students know that I am also praying for each of them. As any ministry opportunity, I honestly feel that I am getting as much or more out of volunteering at the Learning Center than the students. I look forward with great anticipation to the day that I can be at the graduation of the students that I have had the privilege of helping.
If you are looking for a great place to plug in and to make a difference in someone’s life, I strongly encourage you to come visit the Learning Center. You may actually find yourself hooked like I am.
